‘The American Bull’ wins award at Lions filmfest

Iran’s ‘The American Bull’ wins award at the Lions Int’l Short filmfest in Turkey.

Iranian short flick ‘The American Bull’ has been honored at the 2020 edition of the Lions International Short Film Festival in Turkey.

The 11th edition of the Turkish event granted its best short film award to the Iranian short film directed, produced and written by Fatemeh Tousi.

The 14-minute film recounts the story of a young boy who owns a bull and has a special bond with his animal.

The boy depends on his bull for earning a living. In fact, the bull is being rented for mating and procreation.

Ali-Akbar Sharhanzadeh is the only cast member of ‘The American Bull’, which has been produced in collaboration with Iranian Youth Cinema Society.

The flick has already taken part in a number of global film events and won some awards, including Special Jury Prize at the Arica Nativa Rural Film Festival in Chile, best short film award at the Sguardi Altrove International Women’s filmfest in Italy, and Best Narrative Short award at the Alrington International filmfest in the US.

The Lions International Short Film Festival aims to “enable young talents to participate in the rapidly developing cinema sector, to lay the groundwork for the formation of creative ideas and to create an opportunity for the works to be exhibited on international platforms”, the official website of the event reads.

This year’s edition of the festival was held on November 20.
